When I first bought my camera, I was so excited to take photos with it that I would take pictures of anything around me. I would walk around my house and just click away my time and camera memory. My wife would sometimes pose for me to fuel my enthusiasm. But when I would check my photos on the back screen, I would find almost half of my photos were shaky or blurry to some degree. So, I had to spend a lot of time learning how to stop this. In this article, I am going to share the ways i used to eliminate camera blur that does not require gears updates.
Hold Your Camera Right
I think this is a problem that every beginner faces. Your lack of experience holding a camera will cause your hand to shake while taking photos. To reduce this type of camera shake, support the camera holding hand with your body. Try to attach this camera holding hand of yours with your torso upto elbow. If you can not support it with your body due to your shot angle then do it with a steady structure like a wall or a tree. It will reduce camera shake significantly. Remember, this problem is not permanent. With time you will be able to hold your camera anyway you want.
Put Your Camera On Something
By something I mean anything that is not moving naturally. Tripod is an essential tool for photography and a powerful camera stabilizer. But tripods have some limitations. It has fixed height, plus it is difficult to set a tripod anywhere. Where you need flexibility, look for other steady surfaces like a table, frame of a window, shelf, rock, anything that can hold your camera straight.
Use Electronic Shutter
I am a mirrorless camera user. And if you are one too then this is something you must do. Go to settings and switch to electronic shutter mode. If you are a complete beginner and do not know the difference between electronic and mechanical shutter then do not worry. Electronic shutter mode will get you through almost any situation. And this mode reduces camera shake significantly. This little change in camera setting helped me a lot at the beginning. It can help you too.
Use Timer
Every camera has this option. You can use this option to reduce camera shake while shooting with low shutter speed. In my earlier days I remember my photo would start to get blurry whenever my shutter speed would go below 1/150. If you are shooting in low light or you want to shoot dramatic water body photos or you want to do night photography, you will have to go with very low shutter speed. With low shutter speed comes the risk of camera shake. In this situation you have to use the timer option. Even pressing the click button can make your images shaky with low shutter speed. And the timer option solves it easily.
These are my tips to take photos without camera shake. And you do not need any fancy lens or any other gadgets for them. To make your photos look sharper there are some post processing techniques as well. But i will right about it in another article.
